Every year since 1988, World AIDS Day is commemorated on the 1st of December with the aim to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic and mourn those lost due to AIDS-related illnesses.

This year, the World Health Organization’s theme for World AIDS Day is ‘Equalize’ – a continuation of last year’s theme of ‘end inequalities, end AIDS’.
It calls for global health leaders and communities to increase access to essential HIV services for all.
